The Toffee Shop was founded in 1910 by Annie Furnass, who began making traditional handmade toffee in her small confectionery shop on King Street. Her rich, buttery toffee quickly gained a reputation for quality and was soon being sent to customers across Britain and overseas. Now based on Brunswick Road, the shop still makes its famous toffee and fudge using the same closely guarded recipe and traditional methods, and its sweets have even been enjoyed by members of the Royal Family, helping cement its reputation as one of Britain’s most beloved historic toffee shops.
