Blackcurrant & Liquorice
Blackcurrant & Liquorice
Traditional individually wrapped hard boiled confectionery, featuring a tangy, fruity blackcurrant shell and a soft chewy liquorice centre. This British classic treat combines sweet and tart flavours with that earthy liquorice kick.
Blackcurrant and liquorice, a classic British confectionery pairing, originates from the 18th-century, with roots in Yorkshire's medicinal, then sweet-making history. While liquorice was introduced in the 11th century, it was chemist George Dunhill’s 1760 invention of sweetened Pontefract Cakes that turned it into a popular confection, later paired with blackcurrant to create the modern, beloved flavour combination.
